The Neihu Lantern Zone in the 2016 Taipei Lantern Festival combined Neihu District’s local historic sites and temple culture with traditional lanterns hand-painted by the students of Neihu District’s elementary school students and modern lanterns, creating a festive Chinese New Year atmosphere. This year, aside from installing a sea of lanterns around Neihu Public Hall and Jiantou Fude Temple, as well as decorative lights along surrounding streets, Win Sing also sponsored a portion of lantern equipment and strongly encouraged the Neihu District Office to extend these festive decorations to MRT Gangqian and Neihu stations, so that people who commute to Neihu for work can also enjoy the festive atmosphere. Everyone is welcome to experience Neihu’s local culture.
The Museum of Contemporary Art Taipei was commissioned to decorate the MRT Gangqian and Neihu stations with the theme of festive New Year imagery, using lanterns painted by students from Neihu Elementary School, Bihu Elementary School, and Kang Ning Elementary School. Banana-themed decorations for the Year of the Monkey and strung-up lanterns created a colorful, lively, and rich festive atmosphere.
